Specifies an action to be executed within a transaction producing a result.

The result's nullness is the type argument's, carried through to the caller of EntityConnection.transaction(EntityConnection, TransactionalResult) and EntityConnection.savepoint(EntityConnection, TransactionalResult): a lambda returning a non-null value yields a non-null result, one which may return null a nullable one.
